You should watch 'Reza': Directors to fans

Award-winning directors Farzad Motamen and Behnam Behzadi commends Alireza Motamedi’s latest film ‘Reza’, encouraging fans to watch the director’s debut film.

‘Music Box’ director Farzad Motamen said: “Alireza Motamedi’s debut film has two sides. It’s a bitter story with a sweet performance, in a setting which is realistic yet seems imaginary and filled with illusion at the same time. The film’s ending, although unadorned, was probably one of the most memorable and sensational endings in Iranian cinema history.”

‘The Rules of Accident’ director Behnam Behzadi also praised the film referring to it as “pleasant”, “unique”, and “absent of noisiness, yet a feel good movie” while encouraging his fans to check it out in their local theaters.

A romantic comedy, the film revolves around the life of an author named Reza who begins to write a story about his ancestor's immigration to the historic city of Isfahan.

Meanwhile, Reza and his wife separate after nine years of marriage, and despite his attempts to move on, he finds it difficult to start a new life without his ex who he still loves.

So he begins a search into all aspects of his personality to find out why his better half and the woman he loves cannot tolerate living with him.

The cast of the 94-minute film includes the director Alireza Motamedi as well as Sahar Dolatshahi, Setareh Pesyani, Reza Davoudnezhad, Afsar Asadi, Solmaz Ghai, Pantea Marzanian, Nasim Mirzadeh, Forough Taebi.

Premiering at the 36th annual Fajr Film Festival in Iran, ‘Reza’ has been screened at the 33rd annual Belfort Entrevues International Film Festival in France.
